आपल्या मुलाला डेंटल अपॉइंटमेंट साठी आणताना हे करा
· तुमच्या मुलाला सांगा की तुम्ही एका मित्र/काकाकडे जात आहात जो डॉक्टर देखील आहे आणि त्याला मुले आवडतात आणि तो फक्त त्याचे/तिचे दात तपासू शकतो.
· त्याला/तिला सांगा की नियमितपणे दातांची तपासणी केल्याने समस्या लवकर शोधण्यात मदत होऊ शकते जसे कि काळेपणा, पोकळी.
· शक्य असल्यास, पहिल्या भेटीत दोन्ही पालकांनी मुलासोबत उपस्थित राहणे आवश्यक आहे.
· तुमच्या डॉक्टरांना तुमच्या मुलाशी बोलण्यासाठी पुरेसा वेळ द्या. सुरुवातीला ओळख निर्माण करण्यासाठी आणि त्याचा/तिचा आत्मविश्वास मिळवण्यासाठी घालवलेला वेळ नंतर उपचारासाठी लागणारा वेळ वाचवेल.
· 85-90% मुले सर्व दंत उपचारांसाठी सहकार्य करू शकतात. तुमच्या डॉक्टरांना केवळ मुलावर उपचार करण्यासाठीच नव्हे तर त्याच्यामध्ये डेंटिस्टविषयी सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोन निर्माण करण्यात मदत करा.
· जेव्हा डॉक्टरांची इच्छा असेल तेव्हा तुमच्या मुलाला त्याच्यासोबत एकटे सोडा. तुमचे मूल आणि डॉक्टर यांच्यातील 1:1 संवाद ही यशस्वी दंत उपचाराची गुरुकिल्ली आहे.
· डॉक्टरांच्या मूल्यांकनासाठी तुमच्या मुलाचे संपूर्ण वैद्यकीय रेकॉर्ड (लसीकरणासह) जवळ ठेवा. त्याचे/तिचे शाळेचे परफॉर्मन्स कार्ड देखील जवळ ठेवा.
· प्रतिबंधात्मक उपाय आणि फॉलोअपसह संपूर्ण उपचार कार्यक्रम समजून घेण्याचा आग्रह धरा.
आपल्या मुलाला डेंटल अपॉइंटमेंट साठी आणताना हे करू नका
· आपल्या मुलाला वेदना, रक्त, इंजेक्शन इत्यादींबद्दल प्रथम सांगू नका.
· त्याला/तिला असे काहीतरी सांगू नका - "तुम्ही तुमचे दात नीट घासले नाहीत म्हणून, डॉक्टर तुम्हाला एक इंजेक्शन देईल.." किंवा "तुम्ही चॉकलेट खाल्ल्यामुळे तुमचे खराब झालेले दात डॉक्टर काढतील"!
· पहिल्या भेटीतच उपचार सुरू करण्याचा आग्रह धरू नका.
· डेंटल अपॉइंटमेंट (वेदना, रक्त इ.) बद्दल आपल्या स्वतःच्या भीती मुलांसमोर बोलू नका. तुमचे डेंटिस्ट तुमच्या प्रश्नांची स्वतंत्रपणे उत्तरे देऊ शकतात.
· झोपेच्या वेळी किंवा तो/ती खूप थकलेला असताना डेंटल अपॉइंटमेंट टाळा.
· त्याला/तिला आधी भेटवस्तू देऊन लाच देऊ नका. (तुम्ही नंतर क्लिनिकमध्ये योग्य वागणूक मिळल्यास देऊ शकता)
· मुलाच्या वागणुकीची डॉक्टरांकडे तक्रार करू नका. तसेच, सर्व भेटींमध्ये परिपूर्ण वर्तनाची अपेक्षा करू नका.
· त्याला/तिला डॉक्टर कधी उपचार करतील, त्याला/तिला होणार्‍या वेदना इत्यादींबद्दल आधीच कल्पना देऊ नका ज्यामुळे त्याची/तिची दिशाभूल होऊ शकते. फक्त तुम्हाला माहीत नाही म्हणा.

DOs while bringing your child for dental visit
- Tell your child that you are going to a friend / uncle who's also a doctor and likes children and he may just check his/her teeth.
- Tell him/her that getting teeth examined regularly may help finding problems - blackness, cavities early.
- If possible, both the parents must remain present with the child in the first visit.
- Give your doctor enough time to talk to your child. The time spent initially on building rapport and gaining his/her confidence will in turn save the time required for treatment later.
- 85-90 % Children can cooperate for all dental treatments. Help your doctor in not only treating the child but instilling in him/her, a positive attitude towards dentistry.
- Whenever the doctor wishes leave your child alone with him. The 1:1 communication between your child and the doctor is the key to successful dental treatment.
- Get your child's complete medical record (including immunization status) for doctor's assessment. Also get his/her school performance card.
- Insist on understanding complete treatment programme, including the preventive measures and follow-up
DONTs while bringing your child for dental visit
- Do not tell your child about pain, blood, injections, etc. in the first place.
- Don't tell him/her something like - "because you don't brush you teeth properly, doctor will give you an injection.." or "because you eat chocolates, your spoiled teeth will be removed by doctor"!
- Do not insist on starting the treatment in the first appointment itself.
- Do not voice your own fears about dentistry (pain, blood, etc) in front of children. Your dentist can answer your queries separately.
- Avoid dental appointments during the naptime or when he/she is too tired.
- Don't bribe him/her with a gift beforehand. You may reward an appropriate behaviour in the clinic (if obtained) later.
- Don't make complaints of the child's behaviour to the doctor. Also, don't expect perfect behaviour at all visits.
- Don't promise him/her in advance about the time the doctor would take a treat, the pain he/she might get, etc. which can mislead him/her. Simply say you don't know.
